Seven Ways To Make Your Front Porch Summertime Ready!

Published by Imagine Homes

Temps are rising and days are getting longer- that means it’s nearly summertime!  There’s no better place than your front porch to spend summer mornings sipping iced coffee or warm evenings watching the sun go down. Now’s the time to spruce up the front porch in your new home.  Here’s our list of seven ways to make your front porch the best place to hang  out all season long:

  1. Plant flowers in pots for easy maintenance.  This will give your porch a burst of color!  Check out this list of container plants that love heat (because let’s be real, we live in the south).  Want to eat what you grow?  You can plant fruits and veggies in container as well!
  2. Outdoor cocktail stations aren’t just for weddings.  A few recycled pallets and a wood cart are all you need to create a beautiful area to store your drinkable goodies-especially great when you have company.  This cute weathered red wagon makes for an awesome cooler too.
  3. Maximum front porch appeal with minimum effect on your wallet?  This summer wreath DIY is just for you.  Design a season-specific wreath for your front door for less than $10!
  4. Outdoor pillows can make a space great, but they can be crazy expensive at the store.  Try making your own!  This gives you a ton of creative freedom to get the exact look you want for your front porch.
  5. We all know the distinct scent of citronella.  What if we told you that you could make your own bug repellent candles? Here’s an awesome tutorial to get you started.  We love the idea of using star tart tins as candle molds!
  6. A little mood lighting goes a long way.  When the sun goes down, flick on these adorable string lights to create the perfect front porch atmosphere whether you’re entertaining or just having a nice night at home.
  7. Add an outdoor rug to your porch to make things a little cozier and to add a pop of color.  Choose lighter colors to make your space seem bigger.
