So you’re ready to buy a new home.  Congrats!  The home buying process can seem a bit overwhelming, but don’t worry.  We’ve got your back!  Here are five things you should consider when you’re looking for a new available home:

1. There is no perfect age to buy your first home.  Really!  If you’re ready to end your lease and buy your own place, then age shouldn’t be a factor.  You know when you’re ready.  If you’re financially stable and you have a plan, you can start the house hunt!
2. Read-up on how the home buying process works.  Know when to apply for a mortgage, how to get pre-approved, etc.  Doing your research will pay off big in the long run.  Seem a little stressful?  Don’t worry!  We have experts who can help you understand the process and make sure you have all the information you need.
3. 4. Make a list of wants and must-haves.  Set realistic expectations and have a list of priorities you’d really like to focus-on in your home search – location, floor plan options, available outdoor space, etc.  Think about options that are non-negotiable versus home features that you’d love to have, but you could live without. Ask friends and family members who own homes for their input too and get their ideas on features you should be most important to you.
5. Check-out potential neighborhoods in person.  Drive to the communities you’re interested in at various times during the day and week.  Check-out the dining, shopping, and entertainment in the immediate area.  This will help you figure out if the community is the right fit for you and your lifestyle.
